I got this

Reese had to go to the dentist today for her first of three appointments to get her 7 cavities taken care of. Jim told me that when he walked her back to the dentist's room and watched her sit down they explained everything about the mask that would help her to relax while they filled her cavities. She looked at Jim and told him he could go, "I got this dad!"  Just like that my 5 year old acts like a 15 year old.

Bedtime bathroom funnies

Tonight JJ told me (while taking his shower) that he wants to name his "pee pee." When I asked him why he said so that when he's talking about it other people won't know that he's talking about it. I told him that's a great idea and asked him what he would name it. His answer was, "T.M.A."  It was all that I could do to try not break down laughing. I walked away and let him finish his shower. When I came back (5 minutes later) I asked him why his hair wasn't wet and he reminded me that he can't turn around in the shower because the water hurts his T.M.A. (Things new 7 year olds say).
It was then Reese's turn. She got in the shower and wanted to do everything herself. She took her shower, I told her when to put her shampoo on, and she let me know when she was done. She was so proud of herself that she came out to tell Jim that she used two squirts on her hair and one on her body. Jim told her great job and as she walked back to her room I could hear her say, "yeah, I can do it because I'm all grown up now."  Please stop growing up Reese and James.  9/4/16

37

Today we're celebrating me being 37 up at Elk Rapids and we were talking about how JJ leaves a little bit of food on his plate, just like me. Which led to a conversation about how it deep down means that I don't want to eat the whole thing because I think I'm fat. JJ said, "moms not fat!" Jim said ,"PHAT," and we explained what Pand H stood for. JJ said, moms not hot, she's cool too!

My Little Inventor and Fashionista

When I picked JJ up from school today he was excited to show me his watch that he made. He told me that it could control the minds of others by a push of a button.
Reese was given a flower by a teacher at school and she was insistent on wearing it behind her ear. As she was walking with it she made sure that she would turn her head to make sure that people saw it.

Jesus loves me

Tonight when I was putting JJ to bed he told me he had a song for me. He said it's a lot like Jesus loves me but he added new words. "Jesus loves me this I know, for the bible tells me so, God and Jesus make a pretty good team." Yes they do buddy.

"Traction"

JJ told me tonight as he was getting ready for bed that he knows how to do "traction." I asked him what traction was and he said, "you know like adding numbers together."  Oh! Addition!  He then gave me an example, "mom, I know what 80 plus 40 is."  He thought a little bit and said, "120."  He then told me how 40 plus 40 is 80. I cannot even tell you how impressed I was that my 6 year old can add that well.

Valentine's Day.

What a great Valentine's Day we had today. Besides being spoiled by Jim, we were able to be spoiled by JJ and Reese. They woke us up and asked if they could go color. They returned shortly after that with our Valentine's Day cards. They even included candy!  What sweethearts.

Game High Scoring

James had a break out game today scoring 8 points. The game resulted in a win for the Bears!!

Way to go bears!!

Our little gymnast

Reese has learned so many new things in her gymnastic classes. We're on the 4th class and today she did a handstand into the giant foam pit.
She also has perfected her bridge.
For the first time she worked on a back hand spring, "back spring" as Reese calls it.
Finally, they have done work on the uneven bars as well as the balance beam. Reese is loving it.

He Shoots, He Scores .... Again.

The big bad bears were playing the orcas and they were ready for their first win of the season. They were doing very well with the help of number 3, he helped them with solid defense and another 2 points.
Despite the effort, the Bears lost to the Orcas in the last quarter. The doughnuts JJ brought for snack helped them to quickly forget about the defeat.

Snow Day = Dentist

We had a snow day today, but still had to go to the dentist appointment. This was the kids second time seeing the dentist. Our appointments were bright and early at 8 am. As you can tell the kids were excited.
They actually were. James was very excited to show the dentist his missing teeth as well as his new teeth. Both kids sat in the chairs and were ready for action.
As the dentist was checking JJ's teeth he let James know that he now has 5 man teeth so he must be a man!!!  JJ got a kick out of that. Both kids had great checkups and no cavities! Yeah!  Reese wanted to make sure I got a picture of her super clean teeth. They both told me that the dentist is fun. Let's hope that they always feel that way.

Moving on up!

Reese had her first gymnastics class tonight at For the Kidz. Reese has been talking about taking gymnastics for over a month and once we signed her up that was all she could talk about for an entire week. Reese looked like a natural and was so excited doing all of her station work. On the first circuit Reese was suppose to do a somersault on the wedge, but chose to do a cartwheel instead. After her first pass through, the teacher pulled Reese off to the side and asked to see her cartwheel. She then pulled over the other teacher to have Reese show her the cartwheel. At the end of class the teacher came up to me and told me that if I wanted, Reese can move up to the advanced preschool class since she already knows how to do a cartwheel. Reese absolutely loved gymnastics and asked if she could go everyday. We love our little gymnast.

He shoots....He scores

James had his first basketball game for the 2016 season. His team is the Big Bad Bears. They played well, but lost by 2 points to their opponent. JJ did a great job as he scored his first points ever in a game. JJ also got the only assist of the game within the last 20 seconds of the game. We love our #3

Year in review (2015)

Looking at our year in reverse.
JJ lost his first tooth and then lost his second within days of loosing his first. All he wanted for Christmas was his two front teeth. (November 26, 2015)
The family was in the Santa parade this year helping out with the Consumer's energy float. (November 21, 2015)
Both kids played soccer this year and did great. Reese's highest score was 9 goals in one game and JJ scored 7 in one game.

James learned how to ride his bike without training wheels.

Reese started 4yr old preschool with Mrs. Robin and JJ started Kindergarten in Mrs. Tape's class.
What a great year!!!
